Jake Pentecost John Boyega is the son of Stacker, but he doesn't see himself as anything like his dad. The robots are run by two-pilot teams whose movements suggest tai chi exercises taking place on the world's largest, weirdest elliptical machines. Defying direct orders from command, they engage the monster rather than protect the coastline. While del Toro's other films feature ancient or damaged monsters, the Kaiju lack scars or any evidence of prior culture, indicating that they are engineered creations rather than the result of an evolutionary system. The putative plot has the robots battering their way towards the glowing deep-sea rift to slam it shut. With the cataclysmic events behind, the surviving human race has moved on with life.
Jake meets his former co-pilot in Gipsy Avenger, Nate Lambert Scott Eastwood , with whom he now has a strained relationship with. The actors can't make Pacific Rim any better. But what the movie does come up with has been built out in a halfhearted, clumsy manner that underlines the cynical nature of the exercise: a plot involving the rush to deploy jäger drones overseen by the shadowy Shao Corporation, which has been getting a little too close to the kaiju brains that its top secret research depends on. That would have been hard to explain anyway for Elba, whose character, Stacker Pentecost, sacrificed himself and his awesome name to save the world in the first film. However, when it sounds like the creature has settled directly over them, he begins to panic that Chau may have been right, and that it may be looking for him. This is also why the tone of the first film has been supplanted here in favor of a much sillier one, as well as a more cartoonish, ridiculously excessive slam-bang action blitz meant to appease the desired expectations of far eastern audiences. He has to team up with Nate Scott Eastwood in one of those two-man robots at some point.
He introduced ideas he had always wished to see in the genre, such as a Kaiju birth and a Kaiju attack seen from a child's perspective. They split the difference between classical filmmaking and the blurrier, more chaotic modern style in a way that made me appreciate the virtues of both. Former Jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost — son of Battle of the Breach hero Stacker Pentecost — makes a living by stealing and selling Jaeger parts on the in the area. Five years later, the increasing power and number of Kaiju attacks cause the world governments to cease funding the continuous construction of Jaegers in favor of building coastal walls, and Marshal Stacker Pentecost moves all four remaining Jaegers to the last Jaeger Shatterdome in and plans to end the Kaiju War by destroying the Breach with a. She tells him that she had it authorized for Jake to co-pilot Gipsy Avenger at an upcoming meeting in Sydney. Characters run from the danger, even though one scene tries to mitigate the destruction by telling the audience all of the people are safely in underground bunkers.
